There are brothers who have always distinguished our sport. To name a few, there have been the Boniface Brothers, Camperapero, Spangiro, Underwoods, Toulagi, Hermitage, Du Plessis, the Bergamasco brothers, Levermont and more recently the Marchand brothers, Quelud and Arnolds in Toulouse!
For more than six years now, the Menger sisters, third row Romain and wing Marines, have been spearheading the women’s rugby career from Lille to Montpellier and especially in the French team. Both are on the federal contract since 2018, they are champions in 2016 with Lille and then in 2019 with Montpellier!
Romain is three of the Six Nations tournaments, including the Grand Slam tournaments in 2018. She has become a reference in her third row position and has just faced one of France’s two teasers, the Black Fern.
Safi Ndiaye says of Romain that she is an exceptional player, hardworking, technical, physical, one of the best players in the world in her position and that she is proud to play alongside her in Montpellier and in the France team. Gael Hermit, captain of the France team, is full of praise and tells us that Romain is the type of player you would prefer on your team rather than against yourself. She is a high-quality player, both human and technical. It’s a powerhouse, and a great athlete,” concludes Linage Korsun. In short, a complete player and an agreed woman in the locker room and in life!
At the end of an impressive game and a legendary victory over the Black Ferns this weekend for a new generation of France’s 15th players, Romain is almost behaving like an ‘older’ at just…25 years old! She will tell us about her career, shared rugby with her twin sister Marin, her ambitions and her vision for women’s rugby taking a growing place on the internet and in the hearts of the French.
