Frankfurt (OTS)
(M) Last week (3 – 9 May 2021) Frankfurt Police implemented numerous traffic controls throughout the city. Special emphasis was placed on the safety of high-risk road users.
Unlike vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists, for example, do not have a shock zone. Therefore, it is especially important to protect them.
Frankfurt police conducted more than 2,100 searches last week. Motorists, cyclists, scooters and pedestrians were examined. Ignoring red traffic lights was especially common – meaning negative. But driving with a view of a mobile phone was also fatal for some. On the other hand, many motorists were not wearing seat belts. Not only are these violations punished. Officers regularly sought out conversation to raise awareness of the dangers.
If you drive or walk through a red traffic light, you are not only putting yourself in danger, but also others in danger. Even looking at a cell phone isn’t as harmful as you might think. Just a quick glance at the mobile can mean that several meters are covered almost blindly. This harbors dangers. For the person driving the wheel and all other road users. So it is very important that you are # MoreCautionMoreConsiderate #.
Frankfurt Police will continue to implement extensive measures in the form of preventive controls and talks in order to increase road safety.
