Apple could introduce a new MacBook Air in 2022, but also in 2023 according to Ross Young. It will have the right to 15 inch format.
Apple has been working hard on its laptops since the arrival of Apple’s silicon chips, and product launches are becoming more frequent. Thus, the Apple brand could introduce a new MacBook Air by next year, the XXL version of the computer that exists today only in a fairly small 13-inch form factor.
While the product, which was released in November 2020, still has a very competitive M1 chip, Apple could push a little more by introducing the long-awaited M2 in this new PC. At least that’s what the latest report indicates from Ross Young, who has been very active with the Cupertino company for a few weeks.
13-inch MacBook Air in 2022 and 15-inch in 2023?
An expert who has worked for more than 25 years in the tech world has connections, which are among the most reliable at the moment. However, the rumored 15-inch MacBook Air is not Young’s brainchild. In fact, Apple expert Mark Gorman, who works as a journalist for Bloomberg, mentioned such a project last year.
The latest rumors expect Apple to release a new version of MacBook Air this year. Apple can then choose to do what is with the high-end version of its computer, the MacBook Pro. As a reminder, the latter was released last November in two different screen sizes, the first being 14 inches and the second larger than 16 inches. This presentation also allowed Apple to introduce new processors: M1 Pro and M1 Max.
Which processor for the MacBook Air?
Apple has since introduced the M1 Ultra, a dual M1 Max chip that can only be used in Mac Studio for now. There is still a very small chance that this greedy processor will end up in the MacBook Air. Being thin by definition, an Apple computer emits heat very poorly, and putting such a powerful processor in such a device could be counterproductive, both in terms of heat and battery life.
Right now we finally know a lot more about a potential 15-inch MacBook Air. The first rumors suggest that Apple is actively studying this idea, but the following keywords should provide more information about the most popular laptop in the range.
