3.14Air, the research artist from Brest, has released his new album “L’espace d’un Instant” – Brest

Who is behind 3.14Air?

“A composer, composer and instrumentalist from Brest. I am also a pianist and researcher! My first CD is called “Sans les autres”, and it was released in 2019. I am part of the Leika group, with whom I have performed a lot of theatrical performances. Musically, You could say I do French pop and electro. I just released a new track, “We Need the Time.” This is the single from the new album coming out on April 8: “L’espace d’un Instant”.

How long have you been playing music?

“I’ve been doing it since I was a kid, started with classical music and went to the conservatory at the age of seven. I never really stopped, but when I was young I had a lot of nose for studying and less time. That’s why I started releasing music so late. I was part From a jazz association in 1998, where I met the members of Leika. Then the transition to self-producing wasn’t easy! However, I think taking that time has also allowed me to release something more mature and better release myself.”

ShareHow to make

“I make my music in the home studio. I record myself making my beats. I have started doing my own mixes on the new album, which was not the case on the previous EP. I had good help from Cube Studio, in Brest, for this part of the work” .

effects?

“Among the older generation, I would say Alan Souchon, Jack Heglin or even Barbara, Alan Bashong. Among the most ‘contemporary’ are Alex Bobin, Françoise Pruitt, Arthur H, Dominique A and Bertrand Bellin. In the new scene, I listen a lot. To Magenta, Laura Cahen, P.R2B, Klô Pelgag. I also listen to electro: NTO, The Field, Nils Frahm…of course jazz: EST and Nik Bärtsch’s Ronin for example.”

Collaboration for the new album?

“On the record, there are relatives, and I invite many friends to join the songs. For example, there is Serge Swans who supports singing, my brother who plays guitar, my niece who plays the cello … the speakers who speak. They say excerpts from the text She repeats parts of the songs. I made a set of all the recordings, on the “We Need Stories” instrument, it gives a vocal symphony.

More about your career as a researcher?

“My real job is a laboratory researcher. I am in charge of a research center at Lab-Sticc in Brest, and my research is mainly related to artificial intelligence and virtual reality. I am also a university professor. I try to combine my activities: weekend, music, week and research. I’m kidding! But For me, that’s the beauty of life. On the album, there will be a track “Mathematics” against obscurantism. It somewhat connects my work as a scientist with artistic activity.”

something to add?

A concert with Leika is scheduled for June 11 in the Amphi de Saint-Renan. The album will be distributed by Inouïe Distribution, and therefore will be available in Fnac, Amazon and other catalogs from April 8.
