From traffic police to blackmailers: the clan treasure in gadgets

Naples. The Camorra 2.0 racket changes the leather and the way it works. No more weapons, intimidation and suspicious faces. But men in uniform and businessmen are at the head of respected trade associations. These are the stops that the Secondigliano shards have relied on in recent years to make their way into Milito’s criminal affairs: “In 2012 this tour brought us 100,000 euros. The “boys” wandered in the stores and had a kind of album with pictures of individual gadgets, namely pens, calendars and holders. Each package costs 160 euros. Speech by former President Paolo Cayazza, today a collaborator of justice, who presented the investigation yesterday morning to 31 arrests (22 procedures in prison, 9 under house arrest) between Naples and Caserta. Investigations conducted by Mobile Squad (Director Alfredo Fabbrocini) and financiers Gico (Colonel Danilo Toma) coordinated by DDA have shed light not only on the new characters at the top of the fearsome Amato-Pagano, but also on revealing a dense network of unsuspecting supporters , not to mention the accomplices.

This is the case, without prejudice to the presumption of innocence of the former leader of Milito, Giovanni Maroni, and Agent Giovanni Poggia: both are actually accused of three incidents of extortion aggravated by the mafia’s purpose. From 253 pages of the precautionary measure issued by magistrate Virtuchio, we learned that along with Gianni Maesto, Antonio Papa, Andrea Severino, Salvatore Chiariello and Antonio Billiardo, they allegedly extorted 1,500 euros a year from the electronics merchant, Yi Jing, divided into three installments to be paid at Christmas and Christmas Easter and August 15. Two men from the municipality, in particular, allegedly opened the canal with the victim, fearing some non-existent administrative irregularity: such as the fact that the building’s total area, less than 250 square metres, was in their opinion “unsuitable for retail”.

Of the minutes, however, not even a shadow. On the other hand, Bogia and Maron, according to prosecutors, were suggesting that the shopkeeper contact Antonio Papa, at that time head of the Ascom Traders Association (which later became Aicast and finally the commissioner), who was to solve the problem in his own way: having summoned the victim to Ascom offices, Bob was going to impose a bribe payment totaling 1,500 euros. The text is then repeated on at least two other occasions, with several commercial Militian operators. This is a unique and innovative circumstance: the shopkeepers who have been harassed can also pay the protection money through a bank transfer, and even get the invoice from a compliant company, in order to hide the criminal process.
