A new toy and gadget store will open at Royal Quays in North Shields, creating 15 jobs

A new toy and game shop is opening in a shopping center in North Tyneside.

The Arcade Warehouse is being built at the Royal Quays Outlet Center in shields of the northWhich is scheduled to open to the public in the first week of March.

The 7,000 square foot venue promises to provide family entertainment with an array of vintage and modern arcade games, PCs, consoles, virtual reality (VR) kits, pool, air hockey, and basketball.

Entry will cost £8.95 for two hours and all machines will be set to play for free, so people can play as much as they want while on their slots. The site will also offer party packages.

Meanwhile, the gadget shop – My-G Gadgets Gizmos and Gaming – will open its doors a few from the Royal Quays Center on February 1. Together, the two sites have created nearly 15 jobs.

Starting the business, Caton Airey and business partner Dan Rees are based in Scunthorpe, where they own an IT business.

They expanded and opened a gadget store and arcade in Scunthorpe, then launched another store in Lincoln.

Catton, 37, said: “We were looking for places where we could open an arcade, and the Newcastle area was always on our radar.

“This location appeared at Royal Quays and we loved it. So we decided to open the driveway here as well as a gadget shop in another unit.”

He said the new venues will help attract more people to the area, which is also near the Inflata Nation and Gutterball Alley.

“Arcade will have something for every age group,” he added. “It’s just a great way to get the family out, to play together.

“There are already other entertainment venues in the area and the boardwalk will add to this show something different and an opportunity for people to come to the Royal Quays and enjoy the whole day.”
