Homepage with discover widgets and maps

The return of iGoogle’s personal portal? Probably not, but this is a tip given by 9to5Google after discovering a new Google search engine homepage test on desktop.

As part of this experience, Google.com has a row of six cards at the bottom of the page with weather information, local news, suggestions for content to watch, and more general directions depending on the weather. The last activity of the user who is logged in the account.

Clicking on these cards allows you to expand the content displayed there or load a related results page. It can also be hidden. For 9to5Google, it’s the Discover widgets and maps addition to Google’s desktop search engine.

Coming soon homepage less accurate?

On mobile, Google Discover aims to display content related to users’ areas of interest, based on their activity on the web and in apps.

Google used to test many changes using its search engine with a few users. However, it is not necessarily published to all users in the end.
