Located in Issy-les-Moulineaux (92), Le Cube offers exciting exhibitions related to digital arts, but also training or concerts. A short tour to learn about the many activities offered at this site, which combine the future and the present.
For several years now, digital art has been gaining ground. But understanding its intricacies is not easy. Artificial intelligence, NFT, cloud… the terms are proliferating and it can be hard to define. The Cube, which has been installed in Issy-les-Moulineaux since 2001, comes to answer these questions through exhibitions, training or even shows.
The 2022 programme, titled We Are the Robots, invites us to question the relationship between humans and robots. “As our behavior becomes more automated every day, robots are increasingly mimicking human traits. So what about our humanity? Who are we in 2022?”, describes the introductory text.
Clément Thibault, artistic director of Le Cube for two years, explains: “The title originally came from a translation of a collection of short stories by Isaac Asimov. I found the French translation fascinating because there is a real lack of distinction in the personal pronoun ‘we’.” There is an interesting area Somewhat a hassle to analyze it.

One of the highlights of this program is the exhibition “IA Who Are You?” He questions the idea of artificial intelligence. Available on site but also online (until 2089!), it lets you interact with Ada, the strange robot from Emet. The goal: to achieve digital immortality. During the exchange, the works of 12 artists working in the field of artificial intelligence are displayed. We discover in particular the work of Fabian Kohvos, who transformed a Nintendo game in the 2000s in order to ask a question about the future of emotional relationships between intelligent things. “If abandoned by his human master, would the hypothetical dog end up feeling affection for the program programmed to take care of him? Is this affection reciprocal?”
Shows, music and special programs for children
After this exhibition, several performances were proposed. On March 25-26, a play will be presented in the form of a rather special reading conference: “Valley of Strangeness”. In fact, writer Thomas Milley was replaced by a good-looking robot, alone on stage rather than the author. From April 14-16, Mechanical Ballet will introduce you to the world of robotic dancers from Quiet Ensemble, who will be performing for the first time in France. Children and adolescents are not neglected, quite the contrary. On the second floor, a new space dedicated to social networks allows you to do many activities.

Young children and older children will be able to spot fake news via digital tablets, educate themselves by reading the book “The Internet Is Also Real Life”, watch videos about online behavior in the form of a playlist, try a virtual reality headset… all This is in a particularly thoughtful scenography about the bathroom, the place of intimacy par excellence. During the holidays, many customized training courses are also organized.
Finally, on the musical side, a new concert will be organized on March 4 and 11. Artist Skygge, who has collaborated with pop stars such as The Pirouette, Naive New Beaters or Stromae, will perform a concert accompanied by artificial intelligence. Cube will perform on stage accompanied by his “shadow”, or an “artificial intelligence that produces new sounds from his own voice.” do not miss !
