The Montpellier Games Festival welcomes young and old for free on the weekend of April 16-17. The organizers collected 300 board games and the creators in Montpellier answered the call.
Smile at life, rebuild your life and spoil the lives of others
The game created by Alexandre Siba has broken the sales record for the 2020 edition of the festival.
Who does not want to start their life from scratch? This is what Smile Life suggests. During the game, each player begins to search for happiness … while putting a speaker in the wheels of his opponents. Accessible from adolescence, up to six players can compete. A new batch of Girl Power cards will be presented this weekend at the festival.
Piks, to enhance the creativity of youngsters
Piks was created in 2018 by two brothers from Montpellier.
Created in 2018 by two brothers from Montpellier, Piks is a building toy for children ages three to twelve. Silicone funnels (toxin free) and wood pallets (from sustainably managed forests) allow for more original structures to be created. The game is designed in collaboration with various childhood professionals and helps develop the attention and concentration of youngsters.
Martial arts puts martial arts in the spotlight

Franz Couderc will be attending the festival to present his latest game released in February 2022, Martial Art. The principle is simple and inspired by popular video games like Street Fighter: once you choose your character, the game takes place in the arena where you have to eliminate your opponent(s). Accessible from the age of ten, it can bring together two to four players, as a team or individually.
Crying the Sun, a successful video game adaptation of a group
The festival is an opportunity to come and experience the latest nugget from Alt Shift, a gaming studio from Montpellier. 1.6 million players have already been lured by Crying Sun on PC and console. It is now fans of board games that the group of friends, formed on the university benches, will try to conquer. Using tokens that have had success in their video game, they put players in the shoes of the commander of the space fleet. It is scheduled to be launched in 2022.
Inheritance, an ordinary family with an extraordinary fate
Heredity co-op can be played with up to four players.
Inheritance is also in the final stages of creation. This cooperative narrative game features an ordinary family facing an abnormal situation: survival in a post-apocalyptic world. At the crossroads of the Mad Max movies and The Walking Dead zombie series, it’s going to be necessary to be strategic to get parents and children to survive in this hostile world.
3000 square meters for fun
The 12th edition of the Montpellier Games Festival welcomes visitors free of charge and without reservations on the weekend of 16 and 17 April in Corum, Place Charles de Gaulle. Doors are open on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sundays from 9:30 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Thanks to the presence of the AGSMR (General Association of the Deaf in Montpellier and its region), the games can be explained in sign language.
