I tried Astro Bot and it's exactly the game I wanted. [avant-goût]

PlayStation's little robot mascot is back for an adventure. AstrobotI had the chance to taste it during a short test. After an hour of playing, these are my first impressions.

When I have to review a game, I obviously notice the positive points, but I pay close attention to the flaws. Okay, maybe I'm not telling you anything by explaining this, but I've gotten my point across. What are the flaws?Astrobot? I don't know. I looked for sores, but they never showed up. That's rare.

Granted, it was an hour-long test to explore three boards. It’s a small sample size, which doesn’t mean the final game won’t have a lot of flaws. But if this test had only lasted an hour, I would have spent another three hours and not noticed the time pass at all. That’s a good start.

Basically, Astrobot It's a 3D platform game with tables scattered across about fifty planets. Your mission is to free your little robot friends through beautiful, colorful boards with fun themes. On the surface, we're not reinventing the wheel, but… Astrobot It brings a refreshing dose of charm through its level design, gameplay, and character.

Everywhere you look in the level, you’ll find a fun reference, comical characters, secrets, or things to collect. The board designs I tried were vibrant and full of personality, without becoming overwhelming. You can easily follow the main path without getting lost, but if you want to retrace your steps or explore a corner that could be hiding a secret, it’s also easy to do so without getting distracted. There are also a ton of characters that add a lot of life to each level.

My little country Astrobot I got a different power for each panel. I don't know if this is the case for all panels, or if some powers will alternate, but it was perfect for interacting with the environment in a different way than the previous level. I could describe these powers to you…but I'd rather keep it a surprise.

There are boss levels too; levels where you have to face a guard. I had the chance to face one, and I especially liked the variety of mechanics to win the match. I like when you have to do more than one move to fight. president Instead of the same thing 3 times and that's it. Also using the “special power” of the level was worth it during this fight. It wasn't too hard or too easy, but you'll be able to choose your game difficulty level either way.

It is impossible to talk about it.Astrobot Not to mention the DualSense controller, which is at its best here. If you've tested Astro playroomYou already know a little bit about what to expect, but I said “wow!” a few times, since very few PlayStation 5 games take advantage of this controller technology. At one point, my bot got a little stuck in some mud, and I felt it really heavy with the controller. It’s hard to describe, but when I felt it, I thought it was awesome. And a little bit of magic.

Astrobot It is, based on my first impressions, exactly the game I wanted to play. Expectations are high, especially after that. trailer Which has caused a lot of debate, but I guess we have nothing to worry about. I loved every moment of the game, and while previous games were tech demos that celebrated the PlayStation, this one was much more refined. Astrobot From what I've seen. Yes, you'll find a few references to popular PlayStation franchises (hello Kratos), but in my experience, it was fairly calculated. The adventure belongs to AstrobotAnd that's the message I took away, rather than the company's advertising. I hope that balance is maintained for the final experience.

I think there will be comparisons with Curriculum 3D Privilege Super Mario From Nintendo; First of all Super Mario OdysseyIt is too early to make predictions, and Mario It's been a successful and upcoming series for decades, but I honestly think it could finally have a serious modern opponent on PlayStation. Astrobot.

Astrobot It will be released on PlayStation 5 on September 6.
