Riolo says De Zerbi's style is 'very basic'

Daniel Riolo looked at Marseille's performance against Brest (Brest-Homme 1-5 video summary) this Saturday and the least we can say is that he wasn't very excited.

Olympique de Marseille hit the ground running in their first match of the season, beating Brest (1-5) with two goals from Mason Greenwood and one from Luis Henrique, before the English conceded a penalty converted by Elie Wahi. Roberto De Zerbi, who was satisfied with this victory, expressed some bad things. For Brest coach Eric Roy, the Marseille team was not spectacular this Saturday: “I don’t think (Marseille) was a big client. I honestly think we weren’t up to our game.”

For his part, the journalist said: RMC SportDaniel Riolo did not witness an extraordinary match from Roberto De Zerbi's team.

“I've never seen a huge OM”

“Like Eric Roy, I also haven’t seen a formidable team. We saw De Zerbi’s ball for the first goal, but if they do it again in the next three games, it’s because either the opponent is stupid or Marseille does it very well. It’s ultimately absolutely fundamental and I’d be surprised if it works every time. All this has to be reviewed and confirmed. After that, it will give them confidence, but it’s just the beginning. There are very good promises and I really want to be there next weekend to see OM again.

Everyone is looking forward to seeing the same performance again next weekend at the reception at Reims. But the first match is encouraging for the rest of the season. We can imagine that Roberto De Zerbi will correct the mistakes this week in training.
