Intel is said to be canceling another desktop CPU architecture for the future

We’re on the cusp of a new desktop architecture from Intel with Arrow Lake. The success of the ARL-S processors, scheduled to launch on October 24, is crucial for Intel, which is currently facing eroding consumer confidence due to the unstable Raptor Lake and severe financial problems. Serious financial problemsTeam Blue, once the dominant force in client processors, is struggling so badly that Qualcomm has approached the company to buy it.

Unfortunately, it appears that Intel has cancelled another desktop processor architecture.

Additionally, if AMD launches Zen 6 processors in late 2025 or early 2026, ARL-S will also have to compete with those chips until Nova Lake is released.

Intel Arrow Lake-S Refresh processors were Previous rumors 40 cores with 8 P Lion Cover cores and 32 E Skymont cores. The performance gain provided by these 40 cores will be 30-50% for multi-core workloads and is very similar to single-core workloads.

Based on these few details, it appears that ARL-R is designed to hold its own against Zen 6 until Intel is ready to launch Nova Lake in 2026.

Before the alleged cancellations, Intel's processor roadmap for the coming years looked like this:

• Core Ultra 200 “Arrow Lake” CPU Late 2024
• Arrow Lake to cool in second half of 2025
• Nova Lake (Royal Core 1.0) chips in H2 2026/2027
• Beast Lake (Royal Core 1.1) planned for 2027
• Beast Lake Next (Full Implementation of Royal Core) 2028

However, with the alleged cancellations of Arrow Lake Refresh, Beast Lake, and Beast Lake Next, all that's left is the vanilla ARL-S in 2024 and chips. Lake Nova Scheduled for the second half of 2026/early 2027. If true, this could mean that Intel Nova Lake will compete with Zen 7 in 2027.
