The unboxing of a potential Macbook Pro M4 model causes a lot of talk, but it still leaves doubts.
Is the future Macbook Pro M4 finished in Russia? Russian videographer, Wyslacom, uploaded to YouTube video Unboxing shows what it presents as a new Apple laptop model.
The video shows a model with an almost identical design to the current models, even on its box that uses the official wallpaper of the Macbook M3. In any case, this will be the first Macbook with an M4 chip, which was confirmed by journalist Mark Gurman, who has always been well informed about Apple.
What's even more surprising is that Apple no longer officially sells its products in Russia since the invasion of Ukraine – yet we can find products from the brand via unofficial distributors from elsewhere. This YouTuber is not the only one who has one, as another Russian, Romancev768also claimed to have one with video support.
ShrimpApplePro, for its part, confirms that a few hundred copies have disappeared from warehouses. A very unusual situation, reminiscent of the widespread case surrounding the leak of the iPhone 4, in 2010, which was found in a bar, which led in particular to a complaint from Apple.
The back of the box, provided by Russian videographers, shows, if it is easy to pass by, the inscription of the M4 chip, which will equip the iPad Pro of 2024. The device also has additional ports, such as a third Thunderbolt 4 port.
According to Wyslacom, Apple will ditch the 8GB of RAM, which is extremely insufficient on a device intended for professionals, for the entry-level variant. Therefore we should expect a possible increase in prices.
The latest evidence from Russian videographers that this leak is true? Benchmarks were broadcast in the video that match the performance of Apple's latest chip. On Geekbench, the latest iPad Pro M4 shows very similar results: 3,107 points single-core and 15,271 points multi-core, versus 3,864 points and 15,288 points respectively on the Macbook Pro M4.
