The Aveyron department decided to provide each middle school student with a personal laptop computer so that, for the duration of their studies, they would have a high-performance tool that could be used for work in middle school and at home.
The department remains the owner until the end of the third year, and undertakes repairs if necessary.
At the end of his school career, the equipment will be transferred to the student who will in turn become its owner.
Thus, on Monday, a number of Department Council agents, accompanied by the Cantonal Counselor, Christine Presny, went to Sacré-Cœur College to give a laptop to each student in the two fifth-grade classes. They distributed the equipment in the presence of the foundation's president, Anne Cecile Gilbert, and the technology teacher. Christine Bresney addressed the students by drawing their attention to the fact that the computer is a tremendous information and communication tool that allows them to exchange ideas, content, files, belong to a network, and create connections. But it also warned them about the many abuses and dangers of the Internet and social networks.
The students were delighted, handling their equipment with great care and caution, aware of the unexpected gain.
The department will distribute a laptop to 3,000 fifth grade students and also to 300 teachers and this distribution must be completed before the All Saints holiday.
