Performance and autonomy of the MSI Thin 15 B13VE-2282FR

The MSI Thin 15 B13VE-2282FR is a thin, lightweight, and versatile 15-inch laptop that does well in creative-oriented gaming.

With this gaming laptop, you can play the latest games as it is equipped with NVIDIA Ada Lovelace ray tracing GeForce RTX 4050 graphics card.
However, compromises are necessary with the more resource-intensive 3D titles to get good playability. Because here the TDP is reduced to 45W, which is below average and means lower performance.

In any case, creators will appreciate that their multimedia processing is accelerated by the GeForce RTX 4050. This is in combination with software that takes advantage of the GPU's computing power, such as VSDC, Adobe suite, or Vegas.

This Ultrabook does not use GeForce RTX 4050 ray tracing technology consistently.
NVIDIA Optimus technology automatically activates it in real time depending on the tasks performed. This is when Optimus deems that the performance of the Intel Iris Xe graphics solution included in the processor is insufficient to perform the required tasks.

Whether using Iris Xe or GeForce RTX 4050, you can clearly watch high-resolution photos and videos. Despite its much lower performance, the Iris Xe is preferred by Optimus as much as possible because it is energy efficient and therefore enhances autonomy.

This means about 5 hours on battery in light use. It's a shame it's not higher because this Ultrabook is easy to transport thanks to its thinness and controlled weight, which some people looking for a laptop for students might appreciate… if they don't need much autonomy.

It's the Core i5-13420H that houses the Iris Xe. An 8-core hybrid Intel Raptor Lake processor is accompanied by 16GB of RAM to provide very good overall performance.

The Core i5-13420H is more useful than a classic quad-core processor in processor resource-intensive multi-core fields, such as photo editing or video editing.

As for storage, MSI here offers a scalable solution as a 2.5-inch slot is available to integrate a hard drive or another SSD into this laptop which is standardly equipped with a 512GB SSD.
Of course, if you need more space, you can simply connect this Ultrabook to external storage. To take advantage of fast transfers, it's best to choose a USB 3.0/USB-C device.

However, SSD offers many advantages: low power consumption, rugged design, silent operation or even high speed.
The latter obviously enhances responsiveness and liquidity on a daily basis. Thanks to an SSD, running games/programs is fast, as is powering on/off, performing processing, or even accessing game cards online.

As for heating and noise, expect them to be present when you push hard on this versatile, creativity-oriented gaming laptop (like gaming and processing).
A Ventilation support Can be used in addition to reducing temperatures (Remember to check the dimensions carefully!).
