The Monts d'Arrée Regional Mobile Brigade, implemented on July 1, 2024, was inaugurated on Thursday, October 17. A ceremony in the presence of many dignitaries, including the Governor of Finistère, Alain Espinasse, Colonel Pierre-Yves Caniotti, the Prosecutor of Brest, Camille Mianceni, Senator Philippe Paul, MP Mélanie Thomine, the Mayor of Braspartes, Anne Rolland, and the President of the Municipal Community, Jean-François Dumontil.
Six gendarmes for fifteen municipalities
The brigade, which embodies the “go-to” approach, is composed of six gendarmes and is present in the territory of fourteen municipalities (Braspartes, Perrin, Lecouverette, Saint-Rivol, Le Perrique, Plouier, La Vieu, Plonior-Mignez, Lo). Cloître Saint-Thégonnec, Bolazec, Botmeur, Commana, Brennilis and Scrignac) has 10,700 inhabitants. The speeches of the various figures reminded of the objectives of the approach: a targeted presence on the highway complementary to other units; Visible mobility protects, reassures and deters; Flexibility and responsiveness for everyday security, and a response that adapts to specific protection and prevention needs. It is a response to strong expectations of protection from the first rungs of the ladder of deviance and consideration and treatment of facts.
The calendar of the presence of gendarmes in the municipalities was distributed to the mayors of the relevant municipalities. The calendar is scalable and can be adapted according to needs. The brigade has a well-equipped vehicle that allows it to carry out the same procedures as in the office, while respecting confidentiality, and electric motorcycles.
Combating insecurity on the ground
Anne Rolland confirmed her happiness at seeing the gendarmes again in Brasparts. Camille Mianceni pointed out that “the battle against insecurity is first won on the ground” and the importance of rapid intervention. The Senator and Representative stressed the importance of the right to security in rural areas. As for the governor, he specified that it is “a battalion adapted to the field and with agents trained in the environment.”
