AMD announced its new Zen 3-based Ryzen 5000 portable chipset on January 12 at CES, and to hear the company say so, last year the awesome Ryzen 4000 was just warming up.
Although there is still a lot to know about how fast the new chip is, it is expected to significantly boost single thread performance and provide better battery life. But if you’re wondering how many PCIe lanes it has and how AMD has managed to bring Zen 3 into laptops so quickly, it’s best to tell us from AMD Technical Marketing Director Robert Hallock, who is joining us on this special edition of CES Nerd.
Hallock also tells what to expect when it comes to performance and battery life, and which laptop processor he thinks will be the dominant choice in gaming laptops this year (the answer won’t surprise you).
