If you took a look at Hades 2 and Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access, here's a very interesting new feature in the latter that you should really like.
While waiting for the final job to arrive in the next and final patch for Baldur's Gate 3, this introduces a brand new game mode that will surely please fans of Hades 2 and other games of the genre. A refreshing take on a Larian Studios masterpiece that's clearly worth a detour.
Baldur's Gate 3 goes roguelike with an all-new game mode
Although mods are not yet officially supported in Baldur's Gate 3, GOTY 2023 already benefits greatly from the creativity of its community. This is particularly the case with Trials of Tav, a mod created by Hippo0o that offers a very innovative and refreshing take on Larian Studios' critically acclaimed RPG (on its PC version only, though). Focusing solely on the game's excellent turn-based combat, it includes a great layer of roguelike gameplay that fans of games in the genre like Hades 2 or The Rogue Prince of Persia will certainly not be denied.
This allows us to face increasingly powerful waves of enemies, depending on our party level. After each wave, we receive rather rare loot, as well as currency that can be spent to obtain powerful rewards. The mod includes more than 250 enemies and 38 maps and promises more than a hundred hours of gameplay alone… but also with friends! For the more experienced, New Game+ is also integrated.
How to Play This mode is as ambitious as it is interesting
If you want to test out the new Baldur's Gate 3 casual game mode, you can download it. TAF trials On the Nexus mod. But to make it work, you have to use the mod. Norbyte Script Extender. Once both are installed, Hippo0o recommends running the build process over a new backup. Performing a save that is already advanced risks causing major problems with your progress.
When you start a new game (the designer recommends doing so on Honor mode, the game's highest difficulty level), Trials of Tav will ask you if you want to play it. If you click No, the game will start as usual, and the modification will not be installed. Only by launching it will the game mode be fully active. Hippo0o also recommends building your party from recruitable characters, not Origin characters like Astarion, Karlach, or Shadowheart, which don't seem to be working properly. You're now armed with the knowledge to make the most of the experience, if the prospect of playing Baldur's Gate 3 in roguelike style tempts you.
