The Association presented the Mobile Slaughterhouse Project on Tuesday in Forcalquier.
Take their animals from start to finish… This is the wish of many farmers. Could this be possible soon in the High Alps and the Maritimes Alps?
This Tuesday, one of the associations has already presented its mobile slaughterhouse project in Forcalquier (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence). without a goal? Get closer to the farms to better meet the farmers’ needs.
The idea of a mobile slaughterhouse appeared in Lubéron, where it will allow the installation of three reception areas near Apt and Cadenet (Vaucluse), but also Forcalquier (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence).
More morals
Thus, a semi-trailer containing all the slaughter chains will move through the different locations. An idea that appeals to local farmers for its ‘from start to finish’ ethical side.
“The goal is still to have areas around the slaughterhouse close enough to travel as little as possible with live animals,” cheers Florian Jane, a breeder at the Charentais farm in Pierrerue.
Today, the breeder must drive at least 45 minutes to reach a slaughterhouse from Pierrerue.
Less pressure for farms
In the same town, Marie-Andre, a nanny at La Brebis Joyeuse, pointed out that their presence through this new proximity would reduce the pressure on her farms.
“Once they don’t know the person, if it’s only their voice, it’s stress,” Marie-Andre says. “When we approach him calmly, everything goes well.”
In keeping with their needs and self-managed by farmers, the mobile slaughterhouse will respond to the animal welfare charter and the short circuit problem, often posed by local farmers.
