A Paradox executive explained why Life By You was cancelled

Henrik Fareus, Chief Creative Officer of Paradox Interactive explained Reason for cancellation of Life Simulator Life By You Ahead of its Early Access release. Simply It was worse than The Sims 4 in every wayThat said, it lacks significantly better components than the Maxis game.

An open wound

Life By You was designed as a direct competitor to The Sims 4 and was outwardly seen at least until its cancellation in June 2024. Interviewed by GameFile, Freyas admitted that the game failed in its aims.

“What's in the Early Access game should be really polished and fun,” explained the executive. “A lot of things might be missing, a lot of content isn't there. But it should be a good experience. I don't think Life By You could have done that for the foreseeable future. I don't think it has any better features than The Sims 4.”

That's a pretty strong statement, especially coming from Paradox Interactive's top management. It also reveals a certain lack of confidence in the team that worked on the game, which was shut down after the cancellation, at least according to the company, which failed to meet the set goals. That your cancellation of Life came as a shock to everyone within the conflict is evident from the very harsh tones in which it was spoken about.

It's a shame how it turned out, because The Sims 4 could really use some competition High level.
