The photo section is unchanged compared to last year. Apple keeps the only 12MP wide-angle module.

Compared to the previous model, we notice a nice improvement in the quality of images both day and night. The daytime picture is better exposed, the color is more natural and pleasant. And above all, the sharpness is much better.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 + (13 MP, 25mm equivalent, f/2, ISO 64, 1/100 sec.)
Apple iPad Air 5 (12 MP, 29 mm equivalent, f/1.8, ISO 40, 1/120 sec)

Against the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+, the iPad Air 5 offers a slightly more contrast shot as well as a better managed exposure. The Korean model however is a bit more elaborate. Here, your choice will mainly depend on your preference in terms of image display.

However, in low light, the Samsung tablet performs better. The digital noise in the iPad Air 5 image is not present on the S8+. The image is smoother and lacks contrast, but the end result is higher than what the iPad Air can produce.

The iPad Air 5 swaps out the 7-megapixel sensor with wide-angle optics from its predecessor with a 12-megapixel front sensor, with an ultra-wide-angle lens. This allows Apple to offer the Center Stage on its devices, the iPad Pro and the latest iPad Mini. Thanks to this feature, the tablet tracks your face when you are in FaceTime or in a video conference, so that you always look good in front of your interlocutor.

The quality of selfies hasn’t really changed. The shots are good, but the camera will be used mainly for video, so don’t expect wonders, especially when there’s a lack of lighting.

As for video, the iPad Air 5 can shoot up to 4K at 60 frames per second with its rear unit. Up front, you’ll be limited to 1080p, at 60fps.
