After two months of somewhat lull for Apple, things finally picked up pace in March. In fact, the company is organizing a special event on March 8, during which it should reveal several of its new products.
Also, while the last two versions of iOS and macOS have been somewhat underwhelming, their new updates should be introduced during this major program.
Here’s everything that will be presented at the Peek Performance Conference.
apple spring event
As mentioned earlier, Apple’s first event of the year is called Peek Performance and it will take place on March 8th. Like all events, it will be completely online and will start at 7pm CEST.
Among the products we can expect to announce are the new third generation iPhone SE and the updated iPad Air.
Rumors are also talking about the first half of the year for the radically revamped MacBook Air, the high-end Mac mini, the 27-inch iMac…
The Cupertino company is likely to take advantage of its conference to offer improvements to its services, such as Apple TV +, Apple Fitness, or even Apple Card.
Potential new products
A big spring event inevitably means new Apple product launches. We’ve put together a list of things we’d expect to see, even though only two or three of them are likely to see the light of day.
iPhone SE (3rd generation)
According to the latest rumors, it will still feature the same iPhone 8 design, but with an improved camera and integration of a new A15 processor. Arguably, this will be Apple’s most expensive 5G iPhone.
iPad Air (5th generation)
It’s likely to look like the current iPad Air, with a processor update to the A15 chip, a 12MP wide front sensor with Center Stage, and 5G compatibility on the model.
iMac 27 inch
It could be the new iMac Pro, or it could just be called iMac. However, it promises a real improvement over the 24-inch iMac.
According to speculation, expect a small LED-backlit HDR display and M1 Pro/M1 Max processor.
MacBook Air
The MacBook Air is expected to get a major aesthetic makeover, with flat edges and colors reminiscent of the 24-inch iMac.
We imagine it’s equipped with an M2 processor, an HDR display, more ports, or a MagSafe charging system like the new MacBook Pro.
Mac mini
Mac mini already supports the M1, but a new high-end model with an updated design, more ports and an M1 Pro/Max processor wouldn’t be out of the question.
The M1 model is also expected to be updated with an M2 processor this year.
Software updates
Apple released iOS / iPadOS 15.3 and macOS 12.2 at the end of January, then the beta testing process for iOS 15.4 and macOS 12.3 began. Now we are waiting for their release in March.
iOS 15.4
This version is full of features. It allows you to use Face ID with a mask, for better privacy and security of your AirTags or even a new Siri voice.
You’ll also be able to enjoy Tap to Pay, fix ProMotion 120Hz animations in third-party apps, new emojis, and more…
iPadOS 15.4
Most of the new features in iOS 15.4 will also be available on the iPad. However, the most important thing here is the addition of Universal Control to move the mouse between your Mac and iPad, thus dragging and dropping content from one device to another.
macOS 12.3
As with iPadOS 15.4, you’ll get Universal Control with this macOS update.
We expect watchOS 8.5 and tvOS 15.4 in addition to the above versions, but there aren’t a lot of new features other than incorporating new emojis.
