Bernay Monastery It underwent various stages of construction and alterations. The 1,000-year-old building was restored in 3D after work was carried out on site at the end of May. Behind this project, the Center for the Study of the Architectural Heritage of the West (CEPAO), consisting of Tanguy Berod, Segolene Delamari and Thibaut Minogue. All three are PhD students at the University of Paris.

Through laser scanning and vertical imaging that did not affect the preservation of the building, they produced a 3D digital model that makes it possible to visualize the volumes and textures of the entire monument (including the upper parts).

The digital model that was produced allows us to understand the monument in depth and to discover the monastery church in a different way, in particular by allowing the “virtual” visitor to visualize the spaces that were previously out of reach.

On October 2, the result of this unprecedented work will be presented to the public for the first time. CEPAO, accompanied by the city of Bernay (and friends of Bernay who have supported this feat since the beginning), invites you to step over the stones of the thousand-year-old abbey before immersing yourself in the heart of the pixels of the abbey. digital model. In addition, as part of the Fête de la science, a virtual visit to the Abbey Church model will be visible from October 5-9 at the Bernay Media Library at usual times.
