Beyond Good & Evil 2: Game Cancellation Will Be “Just a Matter of Time” | Xbox One

Returning to the fore in 2017 after years of various and varied rumors, Beyond Good and Evil 2 is a highly anticipated title for gamers. The last time we heard about the game was unfortunately the announcement of Michel Ancel’s retirement from the world of video games in September 2020.

At the time, Ubisoft wanted to be reassured despite everything, noting the fact that the title had passed an important milestone in its development. Since then, we haven’t heard about the game and the project now looks more risky than ever.

Development in the midst of a crisis

Via Tom Henderson We knew the Montpellier studio would be in turmoil. The lack of creative direction since the project’s inception, exacerbated by the departure of Michel Ansel, will be the cause of what has been described as a development crisis.

He also states that for some developers, it’s only a matter of time before the project is officially scrapped.

The game has stagnated in development due to a lack of creative direction since development of the title began, made worse by Michael Ansell’s departure from the studio in September 2020.

The worst part is that the game does not match Ubisoft’s ambitions and goals for future titles. The game has been described as “Skull & Bones 2.0” and although the game hasn’t been officially canceled, some developers believe it’s only a matter of time before it is.

Tom Henderson also specifies that it was difficult for him to confirm this information. For now, it’s clear that all of this still needs to be approached with caution, but the silence surrounding the game has something to worry about for fans.

It is clear that Ubisoft’s vision for its next production is to offer service games such as the first information about Assassin’s Creed Infinity or the next Far Cry game that will follow the same trend.

It is now difficult to determine if there is room for a game like Beyond God & Evil 2 in the publisher’s catalog. In June 2021, we learned that Ubisoft Montpellier was looking for a community developer to “lead the community strategy of Beyond Good and Evil 2 and another unreleased game”. case to follow.
