Cat Festival, tools for those who donate food to cat colonies in the city

“Give, say, cat!”. This is the name of the initiative organized in Molfetta to celebrate National Cat Day, which is celebrated in Italy on February 17: a permanent collection of food to help those who care for cat colonies in the area.

Sunday February 20, from 10 to 13 in the Municipal Villa, the inaugural event: all those who have decided to donate cat food will be offered in exchange for cute utensils specially made for the occasion. A magnet versus a can, for example. And again calendars, notebooks and mugs, but also shopping bags for five boxes or a big box of crackers.

“Currently in Molfetta there are more than 100 cat colonies – explained from the Palazzo di Città – followed by a large number of cats and kittens who take care of them, at their own expense, by providing food and making use of it, without receiving any contribution, even medical expenses.” The department, through ASL, deals with sterilization interventions. A few months ago, a municipal nursery was also built that will soon be handed over to the administration.

Mayor Tommaso Minervini explains that “the civilization of a community is also measured by the concern it gives to animals, and Molfetta has always been attentive to the welfare of the animals. I thank all those who take care every day, in silence, of the city’s trains and those who wish to join the initiative scheduled for Sunday”.

Businesses Joe Zampetti and Oliver & Company have joined the Molfetta Perpetual Cat Food Initiative. In their offices there will be baskets for collecting food. But also other businesses will be able to join the food group by sending a PEC to [email protected]. The food will then be collected, stripped and stored by Molfetta Multiservizi who will take care of distributing it to the cat owners who order it.
