Since the beginning of April, Philip Lamore College has been studying four children of Ukrainian refugees hosted at La Grande Motte in fifth and fourth grades.
It mobilized the college, with staff, students, and their parents, to help settle refugees in the city. Sheets, towels, hygiene products and cleaning products were collected to meet their most urgent needs. French lessons are given by teachers twice a week at the college and in their hostel. These classes will continue through spring break.
The refugees, who were initially accommodated in the camps opposite the college, are now housed in the Levant residence, next to the Hôtel de la Plage, that is, opposite the college. This is how the college collected bikes, fixed them, and offered them to Ukrainian refugees, as a priority for students, so they could commute and get to college.
The Association Le Phare, headed by Jean-Claude Nervegna, intervenes twice a week in the college to help students who want to do their homework. This association also decided to participate in the education of Ukrainian students and gave each middle school student a laptop: Anastasia, Lolita, Léva and Mark.
Another great outpouring of generosity from all involved.
