According to a new State of Mobile Gaming report by data.ai, consumers spent $116 billion on mobile gaming in 2021.
According to data.ai’s new “State of Mobile Games” report, consumers spent $116 billion on mobile games in 2021, two-thirds of all app store spending.
“Prior to 2020, mobile gaming had already stood out, with record levels of downloads and consumer spending in app stores. But the next two years took the commitment to new heights,” the company comments.
In detail, consumer spending on mobile games increased by $30.2 billion (+35%) from 2019 to 2021 to reach $116 billion. Game downloads increased by 14.9 billion (+22%) from 2019 to 2021 to reach 82.98 billion. According to Data.ai, 174 games made more than $100 million in 2021 – up from 141 in 2019.
The $116 billion it generated represented 64% of the total $170 billion in app spending in 2021. Meanwhile, games accounted for 15% of the 2 million new apps launched in 2021. Consumers made $1.39 billion, and downloads were up to $1.39 billion. Mobile games 0.58 billion dollars
