As part of the Heritage Days, over the coming weekend of Saturday 21 September and Sunday 22 September, the Beaumaris Association of Squares and Traditions (ABAT) would like to link it to this national momentum, around heritage sites.
“The Beaumaris squares are part of the heritage and are worth a visit, just like the activities offered to tourists in July and August,” explains Jean Bemartin, director of Abat and in charge of individual visits. Thus, during these two days, several members of the association are likely to supervise the visits and provide assistance.
Miniatures
“Before discovering the arenas themselves, we offer an explanatory video to explain why the Landes race is special,” adds Jean Bemartin. The officials will then lead their guests to the model room, where you can discover the arenas of Tilh, Estibeaux, Mouscardès and Pomarez in miniature.
“They were produced by some members of the association around Michel Polycarp, Michel Lahit, Bernard Lacoste, among others, without forgetting the thinking person: Francis Darmaillac. They are in 1/72 scale and show a very unique architecture for each one. They reflect real squares, with the utmost detail,” continues Jean Bemartin. “These are real jewels, which the members of the Abat, around their president Daniel Campestron, are proud of,” he adds.
In addition to these moments of visit, visitors have the opportunity to discover the Landes race using virtual reality headsets. “They have been a great success, especially with young fans. With these helmets, spectators are transported to the heart of the track, like a breaker or a Landes jumper,” adds the president of the Beaumaris Association of Arenas and Traditions.
