As part of the loRdi program, created by the Occitanie region, second-year students at the Joliot-Curie high school in Sète have received a free laptop. They will be able to keep it even after high school.
On Monday, September 16, the foundry room of the Irène and Frédéric Joliot-Curie high school saw twelve second-grade classes come to collect their red bags containing a free laptop donated by the regional community. The loRdi system, created by the Occitanie region, allows every second-year student at a high school called the “Lycée Numérique” to receive a free computer.

In total, over the course of the entire day, 365 computers were distributed to the general seconds of this high school. The distribution was quick with 30 minutes allocated to each class. Each student had to present their Jeune Région card and the signed commitment charter to leave with their computer.
Computer for more equality
The computer is designed to be educationally useful and can also be used for personal purposes. Donating this computer promotes social equality.”This makes it possible to erase social differences and obtain equivalent equipment without discrimination: everyone has the red computer!“It is a great honour,” says Arnaud Combet, principal of Joliot-Curie High School.
Dan, a second grader, is delighted:We will be able to use it to work on the computer or to make slides for presentations. It is better than wasting time in CDI.“, he explains.
High school students at Paul Valéry High School also benefited from loRdi, and a second distribution is planned during the week for the 186 vocational high school students at Joliot-Curie School.
