French Days – Dell XPS 13 9300 laptop from L’ordinateur – Full HD (2020) at €1349

By eliminating the only drawback of the 4K version (independence), this high-resolution version takes its rightful place: the new standard for ultra-portable devices under Windows. The 2020 Dell XPS 13 is a comeback: a new chassis, 16:10 display, keyboard… We’re only sorry that the full-size SD card reader and charging indicator are missing in this new incarnation.

Advantages

  • New shape, more compact and lighter
  • Excellent battery life (Full HD only)
  • Switch to the 16:10 aspect ratio of the screen for a slimmer bezel
  • Excellent keyboard
  • Very quiet, even under load and without heating problems
  • Always flawless construction

What might be holding you back?

  • Only two USB-C ports
  • Even if it’s Thunderbolt 3, that’s not much!
  • MicroSD slot which may not satisfy many people
  • The disappearance of the charging indicator which was very practical
  • Inconsistent headphone output

alternative

On the first try, it’s a masterstroke. We were skeptical about the performance of the new Apple M1 processor in real conditions and we must admit we were surprised. The Apple chip has proven so efficient, that the existence of Intel Macs in the coming years is called into question. The icing on the cake, independence is simply excellent. Except for the lean connectivity, the 13-inch MacBook Pro M1 combines power and autonomy in a compact and durable chassis.
