Microsoft has integrated a game into Edge that activates when the web connection drops. In browser version 96, the theme of the game has changed to mountain and winter sports. This version is a remake of SkiFree, a title developed by Microsoft in the 1990s. It is equivalent to the game “Dinosaur” built into Chrome by Google.
We take our internet connection for granted. But this can be taken from us. Network failure. Separation. An unfortunate action on your building server. Your internet connection can go down overnight without you being able to do much. Most often, this happens when you use that connection only to browse, work, communicate or play (in Google Stadia or Xbox Cloud Gaming, which are browser-compatible services).

When that happens, you may find another way to log in, choose an activity that doesn’t require logging in, or wait. In the latter case, your web browser can help pass the time. How do ? By playing a “hidden” game in the browser. Chrome Offers T-Rex game » (or a dino game). To do this, simply type in the address “chrome://dino”.
Microsoft Edge 96 includes a winter version of the hidden Surf game
Obviously, other browsers also offer their own hidden game in case the connection drops. This is the case with Edge. Microsoft has already integrated a game called ” browse Principle: You are on the surf and have to meander between obstacles, while collecting rewards, performing acrobatic characters and avoiding giant octopus. While Edge 96 is published, Microsoft has a surprise in store for Surf fans and the unfortunate folks who no longer have an internet connection: a new look on the winter sports theme. Surfing in the seas has been replaced by a pair of skates. Floating chests give way to trees. Witty is now running behind the players. The gameplay does not change. The starting point is always there, and so is the little dog that accompanies you.
Surf Winter Edition is a new version of Windows 3.1
This version of Surf is a remake of an old version developed by Microsoft, called Ski Free. It was released in 1991 on Windows 3.1, and then was included in Microsoft Entertainment Pack which had about thirty titles, including Solitaire. The arrival of this new game was announced on Twitter by the Microsoft Edge development team. The screenshot above is from the video sequence accompanying this license. One last practical detail: If you’re eager to try out the new look, open Edge and type in the address bar “edge://surf”.
