HP follows the latest trend in gaming laptops and introduces two series of new models in the 16-inch format. The HP Omen 16 and Victus by HP 16 give gamers a choice between AMD Ryzen 5000 or 11th generation Intel Core CPUs.
The first omen 16
The new Omen 16 wasn’t the first 16-inch laptop from the gaming manufacturer, it was the HP Pavilion Gaming a year ago, but the first from the brand dedicated to gaming Omen. HP awarded better Omen series devices only for strategic reasons, but with a one-year gap in the Pavilion, technical progress is also due to evolution.
The Omen 16 is available with either Intel Tiger Lake-H45 (11th generation core) or AMD Ryzen 5000H (tested) in a variety of configuration levels as well as optionally with a GeForce RTX 3070 mobile GPU (test), GeForce RTX 3060 PC GPU Mobile (tested) or GeForce RTX 3050 Ti laptop GPU with a maximum of 115W TGP. This should affect the largest of the GeForce three, but HP hasn’t provided any details yet. Nor is it clear if up to 15W is actually included via Dynamic Boost 2.0. The screen will be available in Full HD with 144Hz and WQHD with 165Hz.
Both AMD and Intel variants should be available from June 2021. Intel variants start at $ 1,149 before tax, and AMD models start at $ 1,049 before tax.
First victory in the HP 16
The second 16-inch gaming notebook was the first in two ways: it was the first 16-inch model in the “Victus by HP” series, and the first model in the series. HP places the new Victus-by-HP Series in the holster beneath the Omen Series. There were already cheaper gaming laptops from HP, but it was still running as the Pavilion series of games under the HP branding umbrella. With the Victus from HP, HP is now suspending inexpensive gaming laptops under the Omen brand, which is also identifiable by the Victus logo derived from the Omen logo. The question of whether HP’s Victus will replace the Pavilion Gaming in the near future remained unanswered until HP released it.
Even with the Victus by HP 16, gamers can choose between AMD and Intel CPUs, but HP has yet to provide details. As with the GPU, the Victus-by-HP series should also tend to use slightly less powerful expansion stages than the Omen series with CPUs. GeForce RTX 3060 laptop GPU can be configured with 80W TGP as GPU on Victus by HP 16, alternatively Radeon RX 5500M or GeForce MX350 only available – GeForce RTX 3050 (Ti) laptop GPU is included in data Journalism does not speak, but this option should not be excluded. The screen is also fast, up to 165Hz with WQHD resolution.
HP’s new Victus 16 should also be available on all editions as of June. Prices start at $ 849 (Intel) and $ 799 (AMD) before taxes.
New HP Omen 17 with 165W GPU
HP didn’t reinvent the HP Omen 17 with a 17.3-inch screen but it did re-release. In this case, HP gave the chassis, which shrunk slightly compared to its predecessor, and GPUs even the GeForce RTX 3080 GPU with a maximum allowable 150-watt TGP plus up to 15 watts via Dynamic Boost and Intel’s Core i9 CPUs based on Tiger Lake H45. However, there is no AMD Ryzen 5000H in this series.
The new HP Omen 17 will also be available from HP in June 2021 and is expected to go on sale at $ 1,369 before tax.
