“I love the game but I’m not afraid of life without tennis”

Rafael Nadal, now 35, feels privileged to be able to play tennis and have such an impressive career. Nadal has suffered numerous injuries throughout his career, but has always managed to come back as one of the most accomplished players in tennis history.

The end is near for Nadal when it comes to tennis, but he still wants to enjoy his final years on the ring. He also insists that he is not at all afraid of life without tennis.

“I try not to think about my age as much as possible. I will retire when I am not feeling physically and mentally refreshed. I also realize how much I love tennis and how much I have a real privilege to play for the long haul.

Then, when I put my racket aside, I will also devote more time to my foundation, which supports economically disadvantaged children. But the truth is that I am not at all afraid of life without tennis,” Nadal told Numes Web.

Nadal focused on his recovery

Nadal ended the 2021 season last August to focus on recovering from a foot injury. “I don’t know when I will be able to play again.

I work every day and follow a specific plan, with very clear goals that I won’t detail, because there are things I can’t control 100%,” he explained to EFE.

“I hope that everything I do will achieve the result that we hope to achieve. Nadal has been greatly embarrassed since the beginning of his career.

“This injury is nothing new. It is the same injury I have had since 2005. At that point, the doctors were very negative about my future career, but I was able to get a career that I never dreamed of.
