In Ploenio, residents of the Kreizker nursing home immerse themselves in virtual reality – Ploenio

Over the past two years, students have participated in the Bac Pro Services Aux People program at Sainte-Marie High School in an introduction to new technologies. The latter provides opportunities that allow seniors to connect with the landscapes or life moments that marked their existence.

Two mornings of entertainment

On Tuesday March 1, 2022, residents of a Kreizker nursing home were presented with an innovative experience by final year students who accompanied them in discovering immersive reality. Residents equipped with VR headsets have been “transported” to familiar places such as the beach or the countryside. Surprised by what they found out, they shared their feelings with the students. “I am flying,” “turtle,” “I am fine, as if I were in the country,” some residents shouted.

This session was preceded, a few days before, by the arrival of groups of students who showed the residents short films made for them.

long term project

The educational team will continue this project, by producing immersive realistic films shot on the streets of Ploenno, as well as in the Ecological Museum, with the support of Béatrice Le Gales Garnett, educational trainer in new technologies.

So high school students hope to show that very beautiful things are possible in Ehpad and that future service professionals can actually contribute to it.
