Intel Evo certification, a guarantee of performance, responsiveness and autonomy, is being passed on to its third generation. It is now based on the quality of the exchanges and is expanding the ecosystem to include accessories.
To ensure the best experience with laptops equipped with an Intel processor, the founder launched the Intel Evo certification in September 2020. The latter guarantees a certain fluidity, reactivity and independence. On the occasion of the launch of the 12th generation of Alder Lake processors for laptops, Intel is introducing the third version of its Evo certification.
Obviously, for certification, the laptop must now have a 12th generation processor, but also 6E wifi, ambient noise cancellation, and a webcam with a minimum definition of 1080p.
All these characteristics make it possible to respond to manufacturer user scenarios aiming for better collaboration, especially during video conferencing, with flawless responsiveness and a real autonomy of at least 9 hours with fast recharging allowing you to recover 4 hours of battery life. 30 minutes of charging. When asked about the “low” autonomy announced against AMD’s Ryzen 6000 that promises about 24 hours of video playback, Intel confirmed that it was referring to autonomy in real use and tested during a real-world scenario representing workday activity.
Compulsory Full HD webcam
The focus is now on the quality of video conferencing. Thus, manufacturers are required to integrate webcams with a definition of at least 1080p, even if not all models take advantage of it right away, while manufacturers are adapting. The latter will be supported by the IPU (Image Processing Unit), which is responsible for optimizing the final rendering. The audio part is not left out, and the microphone takes advantage of the active reduction of ambient and unwanted noise.
Two other new features appear: a presence sensor to lock the computer and 5G support. Thus, eight models of computers equipped with the presence sensor are expected to be launched in 2022, while about fifteen devices compatible with 5G networks are planned.
Intel highlights the possibility to interact with all of its terminals. Your Intel Evo computer will now be able to take calls from your smartphone, Android or iOS, or quickly transfer photos and files from one device to another seamlessly. However, the manufacturer remains evasive about implementation and announces that this solution will be available during the summer of 2022.
Evo certification is no longer limited to Ultrabooks, but will include hybrid models and, above all, new formats with foldable screens. Intel claims that it is working with manufacturers of this type of model to get them to integrate the software, even if that means easing the specifications according to the limitations these new formats may face.
Intel is no longer content with laptops and intends to create an entire ecosystem. In partnership with accessory manufacturers, the “Engineered for Intel Evo” brand has been created. It allows the user to ensure that their peripherals work perfectly with their Evo-certified PC, similar to Apple with its “Made for Apple” program. Currently, there are docking stations (HP, Belkin, Anker, etc.) and two models of Poly brand headphones dedicated to the professional world, which Jabra and Lenovo will soon join.
