Indestel Yellows attended a presentation of the virtual simulation work done by a group of students.
The Industeel rolling team on Friday discovered the work of a group of five students who made a hypothetical run of the rolling process at Le Creusot.
In fact, on the occasion of the challenge organized by the ENSAM Image Institute in Châlons-sur-Saone, these five MTI3D Master students had 15 days to virtualize the lamination process. Of course, due to the short lead time and the complexity of the rotation, the students only touched on the process. But they did a job that was already very successful, by recreating the rolling cabin and virtualizing rolling and descaling. For this purpose, they digitized the cabin photos and made several highly technical exchanges with the Rolling Team. Ergonomics has been recreated, with joysticks and pedals actually available to the operator.
The liquidators present during the presentation were able to test the project and note the quality of the work done, even if, of course, not everything was so well. This first approach can be developed and supplemented to serve, and why, to train packaging machines (there is currently no packaging school) by relieving all of the stress on them because they will work by default. But we clearly haven’t gotten there yet!
Challenge 2022
After a challenge organized by the Image Institute of ENSAM in Chalons-sur-Saone, 5 students contacted Industeel at the end of 2021 to work around virtual reality. Then the company suggested that you make a hypothetical work of the recycling process.
These challenges are an opportunity to strengthen the links between the academic and industrial worlds, to familiarize students with the demands of the professional world and to sensitize companies to the opportunities offered by the use of digital technologies.
In all, nine projects were in the running and were presented to the jury on January 27 at the IUT Coliseum in Chalons-sur-Saone. The virtual trader did not win any prizes, but the students were not disappointed that the challenge they got was no small feat. And we can say that they raised it.
