The Teamfight Tactics Gizmos and Gadgets tournament is fast approaching. With this season’s World Championships the largest ever in terms of prize pool and participants, the Western Regions had the opportunity to send additional players to the World Championship thanks to their first ever tournament. Last Chance Qualifiers. Here are the lessons we learned from the one-day TFT LCQ test.
Brazil and Latin America are good
In the competitive global TFT landscape, there are few areas that stand out from the rest of the world. Three regions have world championship titles: Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Korea and China. Then there’s North America, which has historically ranked well, despite never winning a championship. These four regions represent the majority of the World Championship venues in each group. But outside of these four main areas, there are many “general” areas that people should look out for. It’s usually a revolving door where regions like Oceania and Japan step in depending on the tournament. This season, those regions seem to be Brazil and Latin America.
LCQ brought in an equal number of players from all four western regions, including EMEA, among others. The other two regions were none other than BR and LATAM themselves. With each area on an equal footing with their respective players. BR and LATAM emerged when many thought it would just be a two-zone race between the four main members. BR’s “Eusouolucas” beat out the rest of the group and earned a spot in the TFT Gizmos and Gadgets tournament.
As Final 6 approached, no one could catch him as he dominated throughout the day. The player closest to him before Game Six was a Latin American player, “Greenbeing”. Although disaster struck Greenbeing in the final, making him miss the final slot of the TFT Gizmos and Gadgets tournament, the two smaller regions turned head-on and carried their momentum toward the World Championship.
Europe, the Middle East and Africa are ready to take the crown from China
After an amazing match in Game Six and even the craziest tiebreaker, EMEA “Ging” has secured his place in the TFT Gizmos and Gadgets tournament. Thanks to its strong performance, EMEA now has a total of six representatives for the World Championships for the season, which is more than China which had five representatives. China has not yet decided who to send. Or to what extent exactly, because they have their own way of increasing their numbers with the Asian Cup regional bonus which has not been officially revealed yet.
Either way, the EMEA region is looking to respond as it narrowly missed the TFT Reckoning Championship last season. The EMEA region won their first ever TFT World Championship in Group 3 and they are looking to become the first region to have two.
