107 companies. 44 integrating organizations. They were all present this Thursday, 24 March at the TAF (Work, Future and Training) fair in Cahors, organized by the Occitanie region. In the list, a presentation by companies of their job offers and meetings with various professional integration assistance platforms.
Seven sectors of activity share the Parc des Expositions space in Cahors. Among health and social services, hotels and tourism, transportation is a private sector. This year, the TAF program wanted to focus on this area which has increasing needs in terms of employment.
550 vacancies in the region
In fact, the regional liO network is looking for drivers for its network of school lines and a major campaign has been launched in partnership with the passenger transport profession of Occitanie, which employs nearly 550 positions across the region.
In the showrooms, the “transportation and logistics” sector does not attract the masses. Because, this morning, the main visitors to the fair are school groups of middle and high school students. Not the profile that carriers really seek.
Aurélie Triadou, HR assistant at Verbus Voyages Laurens, explains that her company is “looking to recruit part-time employees for school buses throughout the Southwest.” However, “we struggle to find people,” she says. Various explanations have been put forward. “Working part-time frightens a lot of people. And then, you need a special public transportation license that’s different from a heavyweight public transportation license.”
Same note for Raynal Voyages who are actively looking for school bus drivers in Lot but also in Lot-et-Garonne and in Dordogne. “There is a lot of rotation “Because of the part-time contract,” says the ward manager. As the two carriers, accustomed to this kind of show, still hope to attract and seduce visitors from the Lot.
To find one way
The objective of the TAF presentation remains above all else to provide an overview of all sectors that are employed in the Lot. And for some to discover crafts in particular. So the Pôle Emploi Pavilion decided to provide, for the first time in Cahors, a space for “virtual reality”.
Things are simple, while sitting in an armchair and equipped with a virtual reality helmet, people are offered a job. This attraction arouses the curiosity of young visitors who gather in front of the platform. “Avant-garde” way of creating professions. And why not in the transport sector.
