Marie-Pier Audet will participate in the Jamais Lu Mobile Festival

Literature. Thanks to her text entitled “Lau”, Marie-Pierre Odette is among the headlines of the Jamais Lu Mobile Literary Festival, which will take place roughly this year, from April 14-17.

Last fall, the author responded to the event’s call for nominations. “I decided to sign up without necessarily having any expectations,” says Coaticookoise. I chose the text “Jo” that I wrote and submitted it for public reading at the Pavillon des Arts. [et de la culture de Coaticook] In 2019. Paraphrased and renamed Lao.

His story attracted a Jamais Lu Mobile jury, who for the first time sought talent in Quebec regions, such as Abetepe, Gaspée, Saguenay and Estre. Lau tells the story of Laura, a young woman in her twenties who lost all her strength. “After a drunk evening with a friend, she decided to make an appointment with a psychiatrist. During this meeting, she discovered that she had something profound that had yet to be settled. It turned out to be a matter of her mother’s mourning,” Marie-Pierre sums up.

In previous editions, selected authors could present their texts on stage in a crowded room. In times of pandemic, it is clear that we have to adapt. So writers entered the recording studio to revive their writing. Under the direction of Laurier Rajot, a podcast was created for every story. “The podcast concept allows you to plunge into Laura’s world. We are literally in her head and will understand everything she’s going through. It’s a great way to tell the story another way.”

Marie-Pierre Odette’s story will be broadcast in podcast format on Friday (16 April). A link to download it will be published on the Jamais Lu Mobile Facebook page.
