Marvel's Wolverine video game is expected to be revealed before the end of the year

10 months after Insomniac Games' website was hacked and Marvel's Wolverine game was stolen, which made headlines, a leak indicates that the game will be announced soon.

Marvel's Wolverine has been announced for PS5 (and perhaps later PC) in 2021, and is eagerly awaited by fans around the world. Initially scheduled for 2025, it may be time for Sony or Insomniac to make an official announcement.

Before that happens, let's recap what we already know about gaming. First, since it's being developed by Insomniac, it will take place in the same Marvel universe that was developed for the Spider-man games (of which the third game was widely leaked).

Therefore, the game will follow the character Logan in a specific story that we do not have many details about. A December 2023 leak suggested that a multiplayer component could be hidden within the code, but no information about this has been leaked.

The game's development is being led by Brian Horton and Cameron Christian, who previously worked on Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The writers also worked on episodes of the Spider-Man games. Thus we find Mary Kinney and Ben Arfman (Miles Morales), as well as Walt Williams and Nick Volkman (Spider-Man 2).

Towards a demo of the game before the end of the year?

Today the leak comes from the well-known Curacassis area. According to him, Insomniac and Sony will already be ready to announce the game's arrival during one of their end-of-year events.

The game could therefore be presented during the Game Awards (a kind of Oscars for video games), unless Sony decides to create an event dedicated to the occasion.

But let's go back a little. In December 2023, the game was already at an advanced stage, as the Residia group hackers were able to realize during a massive leak. The group then recovered the game files and offered them for sale for 50 bitcoins ($2 million).

After failing to sell it to Sony and Insomniac Games, they then made it available to the public. Many people were quick to download it, before they were identified by the owners and ordered to delete the game, and this episode was a milestone in data leaks (like the GTA 6 episode in 2022).
