The Pokémon Sword and Shield community has been divided over Game Freak’s decision to allow the mighty restrained legends like Mewtwo and Kyogre in ranked battles online.
For years, most legendary Pokemon have been disqualified from taxonomic battles, with each generation. Not only does their immense power smash the game dead, but it also risks making every trainer use the same Pokemon due to their much higher stats.
On January 22nd, Game Freak shocked Sword and Shield players by announcing that now traditionally banned legends would be allowed into the Generation 8 competitive mode, breaking the rule that has kept the balance for years.
