Have you ever heard of Palworld? This is a game “inspired” by Pokemon but with weapons. If players welcomed it warmly, that is not the case with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company who have taken legal action against Pocketpair, the studio behind Palworld. Despite this patent infringement complaint, the game continues on its way and will soon arrive on mobile thanks to a partnership with Krafton.
Palworld is officially on mobile
If you don't know what we're talking about here, Paleworld is an open-world survival monster collecting and crafting game that launched for preview on January 19 on PC via Steam and on Microsoft's Xbox. It was recently released on September 25 on PlayStation 5 (PS5) from Sony Interactive Entertainment. Players can collect over 100 different creatures called “Pal” which can be used to fight, build, farm, or work in factories. The game was a huge success, selling 15 million cumulative copies on Steam, 10 million users on Xbox, and becoming the third most active game of all time on Steam (about 2.1 million concurrent users) less than a month after its release.
Known for its global successes with PUBG and PUBG Mobile Crafton commits To adapt Palworld for Android and iOS smartphones in a version that is as compatible as possible with console and PC games. This strategic partnership aims to ensure the optimal mobile experience, providing optimal graphics and gameplay quality to fans.
Through this agreement, Krafton will expand Palworld's intellectual property to include mobile platforms. Key fun elements from the original game will be re-imagined and implemented for the mobile environment. The project will be developed by PUBG STUDIOS, a creative studio within Krafton.
A touchscreen is required, and the port will not be basic but is designed for smartphones and tablets, keeping the essence of the original game.
Palworld is highly expected to be adapted for mobile. On the one hand, it will make it possible to reach a wider audience, with billions of potential players. On the other hand, it can inspire developers with new ideas, due to the limitations and possibilities that phones impose on creativity. Thanks to Krafton's experience and Pocketpair's vision, don't worry, we'll inevitably be treated to a scaled-up version of this unique blend of survival, strategy, and monster hunting.
release date
So far, no specific release date has been announced, but given the official announcement, we think it won't be for ten years.
Despite everything, we must take into account that Pocketpair will have to face a legal battle with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, which accuse it of having similarities between certain creatures of Palworld and the famous Pokémon, especially regarding the capture system reminiscent of Pokéballs. The issue also caused a delay in the game's release on PS5 in Japan, even though it had already been available on Xbox and PC via Steam for a while.
Who is waiting for Palworld? Remember that Miraibo Go will be available on mobile devices very soon, which is a kind of homage to Palworld. Or clone, depending on your point of view.
