Popular video game 'The Sims' to be turned into a movie

After many rumors about this topic, Electronic Arts has officially announced the news: The Sims will have a cinematic version.

After Barbie, it’s time to turn The Sims into a movie. According to an announcement from Electronic Arts, in collaboration with Amazon, the popular life simulation game will be adapted for cinema. With 500 million players worldwide, it’s one of the most popular video games.

“We’ve had the idea of ​​making a movie for many years. This is the pinnacle of desire for a lot of people. We’re really excited to get started,” Kate Gorman, the franchise’s general manager, told Tech&Co.

Sims in the movies

The film is directed by Kate Heron (Loki) and co-written with Briony Redman (Doctor Who). It will be produced by LuckyChap, Margot Robbie's production company, which also directed the Barbie movie. The Sims creative teams will also be involved in the production so we can find the entire game world in the cinema.

“They are two Sims players and two Sims fans. It was important for us to move forward. We wanted to work with people who had the same passion for The Sims as we did to build something that our community would love as well,” explained Kate Gorman.

Electronic Arts recently announced the cancellation of The Sims 5. The new game will be replaced by new Sims 4 expansions as well as the arrival of the multiplayer mode that fans are eagerly anticipating.
