Razer updates the Blade 15 laptop with a 240Hz OLED screen

In short: Razer has announced a new addition to its popular Blade laptop series with a 240Hz QHD OLED display. Like other members of the Blade family, the new Blade 15 will feature a CNC milled aluminum body with laser-cut speaker grilles. Buyers will also get plenty of connectivity options, including Thunderbolt 4, USB-C, USB-A, and an HDMI port. The main attraction, of course, is the OLED display.

The new Blade 15 will come with a 12th generation Intel Core i9-12900H processor, a 14-core chip with 20 threads. It will be paired with 32GB of DDR5 memory, a 1TB PCIe SSD, and up to an Nvidia GeForce 3070 Ti laptop GPU. There’s also an additional PCIe M.2 slot for additional storage expansion, an SD card slot, and per-key RGB lighting.

Razer said the panel will deliver up to 400 nits of brightness, provide a 1ms response time, and cover 100% of the DCI-P3 color space. The brightness may be a little dim for some, especially if you usually work or play in well-lit environments.

Oddly enough, the OLED Blade 15 won’t be available until the fourth quarter or October at the earliest. Razer didn’t say why it’s been waiting so long for the new model to be released, but maybe it has to do with an ongoing component shortage or maybe they’d like to better position it to drive a solid holiday. It won’t be cheap either, starting at $3499.99 straight from Razer and authorized retailers.
