The main mission of the Pierevet-Nistalas Regional Mobile Brigade (BTM), created on July 1, is to combat environmental damage in support of state and local services and partners. As such, non-commissioned officers of the BTM were received on October 14 at the headquarters of the Pays de Lourdes et des Vallées des Gaves (PLVG), in Lourdes. At the reception of the Director of the Department, the non-commissioned officers met in particular with the project managers of “Aquatic Environments and Natura 2000” and “Tourism and Cycling”, as well as river and collective sanitation technicians. This meeting allowed everyone to present their tasks, identify opportunities for collaboration and cross-contribution of skills. In fact, the PLVG has to detect on a daily basis acts that potentially constitute environmental crimes (diversion of water streams, mismanagement of waste, etc.), for which the gendarmes can provide a legal remedy.
