Resident Evil (Netflix): The series based on the zombie game will be released on July 14

The Resident Evil franchise is one of the most popular games. Having already generated more than $3 billion in combined sales (movies + games), it has several games, and six movies with Mila Govovichbut also many quotes in novels, animated films, comics, and derivative products.

In November last year, the franchise got a reboot with
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. More faithful to the Elementary Spirit, however, did not meet the expected success. So it’s Netflix’s turn to start the first season of 8 episodes that has been planned for release July 14, 2022.

Series based on new characters

Instead of using characters known and appreciated by fans like Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine or Rebecca Chambers, the series will feature Albert Wesker’s children: Jade and Billy.

An option similar to that created for Alice-focused films, although it brings the familiar faces of the franchise a little later. To see if Netflix will opt for a similar style in this Season 1 (or in a sequel).

The events take place in the year 2036:14 years after a deadly virus causes global catastrophe, Jade Wesker struggles to survive in a world overrun by bloodthirsty, dementia-stricken beings. In this ultimate carnage, Jade haunts her past in New Raccoon City, with her father’s fearsome ties to the Umbrella Corporation, but most importantly what happened to her sister Billy.»
