Remake Silent Hill 2 Done under the magnifying glass of Digital Foundry's experts, he is a Video analysis Focused PS5 versionA PC version will come later.

In general, the verdict from tech enthusiasts has been positive regarding the work done by Blooper team for this remake. The game has been rebuilt Unreal Engine 5 Maintaining the essence and atmosphere of Capcom's survival horror, all this is enriched with motion capture scenes and new dubbing, as well as new settings and puzzles.

Performance mode on PS5 is not reliable

As for the PS5 version, we see two regular graphics modes Quality and performanceBoth use Unreal Engine's Lumen technologies for reflections and global illumination, although the first preset is more robust.

In quality mode the game runs at a dynamic native resolution that hovers between 1224p and 1512p with a framerate locked at 30 fps. Performance mode drastically reduces the number of pixels on the screen, with a dynamic resolution between 864p and 1152p and a target of 60 fps. In both cases the upscaling is done to 4K via TSR, albeit creating graphical artefacts at the edge of the screen. Performance mode has a low-performance Lumen implementation, but other than that the other two modes are equivalent for the rest of the graphics settings, such as shadow resolution, textures, and more.

In both modes The framerate is not entirely reliable. In quality mode, there are few hiccups during the most frenetic scenes and 20 fps. Despite the significantly lower resolution, Performance mode struggles to maintain 60 fps The adventure is stable throughout, with fluctuations even in the 40 fps range, if not less, depending on the area, and even VRR can't be effectively reduced. Considering framerate instability and the impact on visual image, Digital Foundry recommends Quality mode on PS5.
