But the only response she received was the sound of the intruder's hasty flight. When silence returned, the young woman, who was still in shock, decided to get up to see what had happened. Growing anxiety in the neighborhood
This robbery didn't just scare the victim. It also raised concerns among local residents. According to preliminary information, the person tried to open other doors on the street, and may have been searching for other unlocked apartments. The Montpellier Urban Supervision Center was quick to respond. Immediately after issuing the alert, police implemented effective means to track down the suspect. Less than an hour after the incident, they spotted a man acting strangely in the streets near the robbery. This person, aged 35 and of no fixed address, was holding a laptop in his hand, a detail that immediately caught the attention of police.
The investigation then led them to the City Gili neighborhood, not far from there, where they arrested him. During his arrest, the man tried to justify himself. He said that the computer and documents he was carrying belonged to a friend of his, and he was keeping them waiting to be returned to him.
