The game offers better sound for a few euros

The new Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is available from Friday, October 25, and offers an interesting subscription to improve in-game audio reproduction.

On Friday, October 25, “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6,” the latest game in the successful FPS license, will be released. Activision Blizzard launched this blockbuster after several beta releases of the game, and it is now available on multiple platforms like Playstation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.

But Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is barely there, and the game is already under fire. On social networks, many players have complained about a strange purchase option available for the game: the custom audio display option.

The result of a collaboration between Activision Blizzard and the audio company Embody, this subscription allows you, for only 20 euros, to create an audio profile that adapts to your ears and your listening habits. The official subscription description ensures “a high level of directional accuracy so that every sound of footsteps or explosion can be perceived with unparalleled precision.”

Paying for features in a video game is nothing new in and of itself. But when it comes to a game that relies heavily on its competitive aspect, this can quickly lead to players becoming dissatisfied. On social networks, many are already complaining about this option being considered “pay to win” (which gives an advantage to those who pay over those who do not pay). And for good reason: “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” is, like its predecessors, a shooter that relies heavily on strategy and predicting your opponents to win. The benefit of better audio presentation in shots, especially on footsteps, is therefore a clear advantage for the player who wants to assert himself during online gaming.

Especially since the subscription offered by Embody is not lifetime. By paying 20 euros, you will thus obtain a license to benefit from better personalized sound for the next five years. This option can only relate to “Black Ops 6” because there is no guarantee that Activision Blizzard will not offer this option for the next games in the license that will be released within the next five years.
