“We are celebrating our 18th anniversary this year,” smiles Anthony Martinet, commercial director of Libertium, the largest group of motorhome distributors, which has 64 dealerships across France. However, if this new majority pleases the organizer, visitors to this exhibition have long since outgrown it.
Nevertheless. “We already have clients on the verge of retirement and young retirees, who are still in good shape, and want to take advantage of it,” the professional analyzes. But campervan fashions are changing. Of course, there are always impressive performance and luxury vehicles. “But the fashion today is for more compact and more mobile models…” Those who set off on Friday morning can return safely on Monday. “On circuits 100 or 200 kilometers away from home. “Less distance, but more often,” explains Anthony Martinet.
Remote work and freedom
Covid has been there too. The proof of this is that this vehicle is designed to operate remotely. “It was designed specifically for a customer who was on the move regularly. He chose this solution instead of a hotel.” This concept was taken up again.
His customers, he and his team of 70 people – salespeople, financiers and technicians – know them by heart. “We're like a family,” he explains, scanning the café area filled with couples discussing their project, alone or accompanied by a salesperson. A “four-day bubble,” dedicated to the passions and desires of these often wealthy clients. “We are focusing 90% of our sales force here during these few days.”
It is also this detailed knowledge of the field that allowed Libertium to design a “collaborative project”, Edencamp, with the builders, to meet the clients’ expectations as closely as possible, in terms of design, but also colors or decoration layout. And adaptation. Because if the customers are wealthy, “many of them take out loans for this project, which guarantees them a form of freedom,” the commercial director estimated. “And they seek what they want…”
